Yusuf Co-Writes Marley Tribute with Youssou

We’re pleased to bring you some exciting news – Yusuf has been working with his friend, world renowned musician Youssou N’Dour, who is recording a tribute song to the late Bob Marley. The co-written track will feature on a forthcoming album by the Senegalese singer.

Youssou was a guest on Yusuf’s 2006 comeback album An Other Cup; and Yusuf is particularly happy to be working with him again. “Someone came through to me about this Marley project. Bob was such a great and innovative force in Music that I jumped at the chance to do something together with my musical friend Youssou. He sang on my album, An Other Cup. I love his voice and the blend with Marley’s style is a African-fun-fusion.”

2. Yusuf & Youssou, Give Thanks & Praises for this noble & timely work in celebrating the ongoing life of Robert Nesta Marley. I had the joy of meeting Bob in 1979 when he dropped by Atlanta, Georgia's first Reggae nightspot (Dread Beat, which I co-founded)and will never forget his embrace, humbleness and gentle spirit. Yusuf, you are giving praise & honor to a "messenger" to us all, who spoke of "one love". It is fitting that you as a devout Muslim would do this tribute along with Youssou. I look forward indeed to hearing the project when completed. May ALLAH keep you always in HIS embrace. Peace & Blessings, Adisaji

3. Dear Damman :) Yusuf has been on the scene strongly since He was born .. Artistically Spiritually Musically in Message and will always be... Everything is Changing for this is one Constant .. Change...Evolve?? We have to be all a part of that.. and at the end of the day.. ask "Did I help" "Did I lend" "Did I listen" and so forth .. This is the Peace Train ...! On your homepage layout today i just saw a poster reading "where i end up? well...", all i have to say as a possible answer to this is: "please Yusuf come back on the public scene very strongly, the world -all faiths together- needs you artistically and spiritually speaking, your charisma, your message, your music, your spirit...".Right now the world is in the process of changing and many people will join you in all different ways to get the message across so that it won't be too much of a burden for you. You are one of the very few people that keep my soul very much alive. This is where you might "end up"... LOL - Martina

7. Thought this was interesting. Jamaica's right next door to Haiti. ~~Bob Bob Marley's 65th Birthday Exhibit To Benefit Haiti~~â€¦. Reggae legend BOB MARLEY will be helping the Haiti earthquake relief effort from beyond the grave thanks to a 65th birthday party with a difference. Members of Marley's family and friends will gather at Los Angeles art gallery Mr. Musichead on Saturday (06Feb10) for the first annual Jammin' and Wailin' event on what would have been the late star's birthday. Rare artwork and photography featuring the reggae great will be on sale, as will Marley coffee and other items. All proceeds from the event will benefit Doctors Without Borders' efforts in Haiti. 9. I'm sure it will be amazing...2 great voices together! I love the song "7 seconds", and have just listened to "Deep Forest Undecided Radio Mix". Youssou's voice is amazing on both. xxPeacexx
