I'm stumped. First line of "Cat Stevens Biography" from Rolling Stone: "For the balance of the 1970s Cat Stevens was a trans-Atlantic superstar whose soft, romantic, hooky, and often-mystical singles were Top Ten mainstays." Hooky?
Does someone know what this means?

I really do think it would be beneficial for you to have an in depth article in The New Yorker (similar to the recent piece on the Dalai Lama). It's wonderful to be holding the peace movement marchers in the palm of your hand, but now, finally, there are many people of our era in positions of power. Will they get the message? Those people need to know, like Joseph of Arimathea, that you are a serious, hardworking, level-headed scholar.
A Pinball Wizard!!! :::) heeheee an absolutely shining interview ... I smiled and giggled along with you all on the interview .. that felt wonderful ... amd I learned more of your path .... thank you for sharing ... love the line of no ...no-no's :) and the one of being

Please feel better ..have a feeling you might have a bit of cold :( ~~Tea and a half of squeezed Lemon~~ :)
With Joy,
Christina
downunder, this part of the world is not so blessed. It is dusty and bleak, but there is a stark beauty to it. This is probably why the celestial wonders stand out. The stars at night are like nothing I've ever seen before, the sky is a carpet of light. But the lack of green-ness only makes me appreciate my home in beautiful Michigan all the more. I think I know how Odysseus must have felt.
David I couldn't agree with you more. I know exactly what you mean. As I live in a mountainous rural area, no city obstacles, I too am witness to the beauty of a full moon rising over the mountains. Oh if only you could see a sunset here reflecting it's magificant clours on the Ionian Sea, amazingly awsome. It truly is a great blessing, all Gods creation, one I never take for granted.

I'm sorry to say I can't hear the interview -- My loss. downunder-72, all science aside, the moon is just so cool to look at. Here in Central Asia, when the full moon starts to come up over the mountains, first the sky lights up like a prelude to a grand show or a celebration, then you get that first speck of light and you get the feeling that something big is coming. And then there it is! Or a half moon in the clear afternoon blue is like a big beautiful chip in the sky. How could you see this and not be filled with wonder? If you don't appreciate the moon, or a sunset for that matter, you are really missing out on an awesome part of God's creation.
Very interesting Yusuf about your swimming episode in 76. In 1986 I had a VERY similar almost drowning experience on a wild wave beach in Haiti. It was an explore day off the ship then called 'Good Samaritan,' docked alongside a ship called the 'Logos'..... We will meet in Honduras, 'Great One' willing.
M.J.M , a prophet's ambassador once spoke of being: "quick to listen, slow to speak & slow to anger."
M.J.M, you betray that Prophet via your words here and 'spirit' behind them....aside from bridging comment rules prohibiting posting duplicate posts that blog moderator deleted.
MJM, reading your post, it seems you are well read person, so you must also be aware of the great importance of the moon, and the effect it has on the existence of our earth, and life on this earth. So one being "obsessed" as you so put it, is nothing out of the ordinary, it's aknowledging the natural power of the moon, Nothing "unGodly" about that. It is scientific fact that life on earth would not exist without the moon. May I say, you have an unhealthy attitude, and you should repent for being very critical, and judgmental.... Here is a link if you are interested..www.astrobio.net/index..'if we had no moon', an essay by Bernard Foing.
I guess I should have thanked Yusuf first for the wonderul radio interview from 3AW Melbourne, before I made a reply to MJM, which for some reason did not go through, so excuse my bad manners. Anyway, many thanks of appreciation for the interview, which also bought lovely memories to my mind. As a teenager I was living in Melbourne, and I used to tune into 3AW with the hope of hearing 'PEACE TRAIN' before leaving for school. Many a time I would lose the tram, waiting, just so I could listen to 'PEACE TRAIN' . That was back in 1972, and today, the year 2010 hearing 'PEACE TRAIN' again on 3AW as the opening song leading into Yusufs interview, was a great surprise, and great joy. Thankyou for giving us all the opportunity to listen.Your music has no boundaries, and has always made me feel welcomed. Continued success and happiness in everything you do.
MJM, I also think it's interesting that the celebration of Easter, the holiest day on the Christian Calendar, is scheduled based on when the full moon occurs. Perhaps it would be appropriate if you would ask those who celebrate the resurrection of Christ why they are obsessed with the moon.
Hello dear Yusuf, just heard a replay of your interview on 3AW, well I am so thrilled that you are back in Melbourne.
Today I turned 53 and I can tell you it made my day...
Yusuf Islam...WHAT IS THE REASON FOR YOUR UNGODLY PRE-OCCUPATION WITH THE MOON???
You wrote many songs about it over many years time , mention "blue moons", joined the Islam religion whose god "Allah" has a history of being a pagan "moon God" that was worshipped by the ancient Arabics, http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/moongod.htm , draw pictures involving the moon, claim you were born during a full moon on your Facebook website, and wrote a musical recently that heavily involved the moon.
You still are talking about the moon quite a bit. Is this moon obsession a throwback to your days of dabbling in the "magik arts", meaning occultism, in the 70's?? It is well known that witchcraft has as its tenants the same moon obsession that you display. see proof>> http://www.paganspath.com/magik/moon.htm
One only has to look up "witchcraft and the moon" on the internet to prove that I am right.
I think you have an unhealthy and unGodly obsession with it and need to repent before God about it. Sorry if you don't like the truth Yusuf. Or perhaps you already know this and are still into the occult and are duping a lot of folks w
