i went to the concert in melbourn last night and it was amazing ive wanted to see yusuf in concert since i was like 4 or 5 and ever since i heard about the concert in melb ive been so excited, his music has got me through so much in my life and he just amazes me so much how his voice is still the same as it is on his CD's yusuf you are my favorite singer and probably always will be and at my age that is a very wierd thing as i am ment to be into the headbanging teen stuff lol but you are by far better then anyone ive ever heard you are an inspiration to many please dont wait 36 years to come back i beg you !!!
Dear Yusuf, I hope one day you get to read my message. I attended the concert last night in Melbourne and had a wonderful and emotional experience. I too have a greek background and fell in love with a muslim man over 20 years ago and we have been married almost as long. Together we produced 2 wonderful girls that I think have the best of both worlds. I was never forgiven by my parents for the betrayal they felt I'd dealt them and ignorant members of the community around us didn't help either. All the odds were against us but we're still standing strong. Your songs both old and new had us mesmirised and wanting to hear more and you did just that. Your family must be very proud of you and vice versa. Your son is very talented and was lucky to inherit your fine qualities such as your voice, looks and appreciation of different types of music. I'm sure you're wife is a beautiful person also and passed them onto him also...hey lets not give you all the credit! I wish you and your family a very safe and wonderful time here in Melbourne and Australia. If there were more people like yourselves, then maybe the world would be a better place.
Come back soon...you have a wonderful gi
I also went to the Melbourne concert Wed 16th June - how fabulous was that! All those wonderful old songs - and the terrific new ones too. Yusuf was relaxed and happy - and his voice as beautiful as ever. He is a gift to the world - not just for his music, but also for his messages of peace and acceptance for all humankind. It was terrific to see his son and his band too - perhaps not my 'cup of tea', but young ones need our support as they make their start in the music world. They were enthusiastic and creative - and Yusuf's son has a lovely voice. Well done boys!
Thanks Yusuf - please don't make me wait another 37 years to see you back here again - come back soon. Maria
My husband and I were so lucky to have the privilege of going to your concert last night. I have been a fan for as long as I can remember ( I'm 44 ) and feel so overwhelmed by my experience last night. When you started singing my spine tingled with the thoughts of my past listening to you in times of joy and sadness. Your songs helped me through ( what I thought then) a very difficult time in my life, and it felt sureal listening to those songs now my life is so very different. It is an experience I will never, ever forget and I feel like I am the luckiest person in the world to have heard you sing live. Thank-you from the bottom of my heart fo the most brilliant and fantastic concert of have ever been to. I thoroughly enjoyed your son's band, especially the 2nd last song which had my husband and I mesmorised. A truly inspiring and wonderful family.Thank you so much for coming to Melbourne.....
I am so happy for Yusuf ,Alun and the band and the lucky and happy Melborne audience. Thanks Trish for taking time to write.I hope you and all the other spellbound audience will take time to write to newspaper editors to aknowledge Yusuf and Alun`s combo and contribution to the music world and the music lovers and his phenomenal efforts towards creating world peace and hormony.( After all he was nominated by the Noble price winners for European Man of Peace Award,).Fantastic performance is happening not just like that, it is the tremendous talent,Yusuf `s immense love of his audiences and the hard work of the team, that deserves positive recognition. Looks like most in the press are out to put only negative headlines for Yusuf, even if it is not factual and it is only phantom allegations deliberately created 20 yrs back at a hypothetical show, and this is only because Yusuf accepted Islam as his spiritual path.He did it after studying in depth all religions and as intelligent as he is and as courageous as he is ,he took the liberty of choosing what appealed to his intelligence. Does not a man has freedom to do so ? Does he has to face negativity only because he choose to be fre
Mamma mia, What a beautiful person Yusuf is, and his band of musicians extraordinaire! We were part of something very special last night at the Melb concert. The storm which was meant to hit as we left waited until this morning. Thanks God. Please would it be possible to have Yusuf and his son Mohamad sing together sometime? Helen S
Hey Cat, Sorry for the loud calling out at your Melbourne concert. Yes I was one of the loud ones and pre-drinks didn't help. I really wanted to hear and remember your old stuff that I listened to when growing up.
I came with the memories of my youth, I still love ya m8 and hope you took the comments "tongue in cheek".
I woke this morning feeling bad and it has made me realise that alcohol isn't a good thing for me and and your concert last night has shown me I stuff up too much when drinking.
As of this day I will no longer drink alcohol.
SORRY.
P.S Still would have like to hear "Hard Headed Woman" as this song made me find my wife and kept me sorta on the good road for 15yrs.
Melbourne 16th June - Rod Laver Arena.
What a show!!! It was FAAAABULOUS and I still can't get the grin off my face, I'm so happy.
Thanks Yusuf, we've missed you - come back SOON.
I am so happy for Yusuf, Alun and the Band that the Australian Tour is going so well. Not surprising, though as the UK tour was so wonderful. It must be have been amazing to hear Rubylove, live.xx LOVExx and PEACE, and Congratulations.
What can one say after witnessing such a memorable concert!!! You have been blessed with a remarkable voice mash'Allah... You are truly inspirational in your efforts to help the less fortunate. May Allah swt reward you amply. You have reminded me not to lose focus of what this life is about and to stive to meet my Creator in a state He would be most pleased with me. May God guide and forgive us all.
salaam yusuf. Its beutiful to know a person like you.I like you and your family. You are inspiration for muslims.I have listened to your nausheeds. They are beautiful. You also recite Quran beautifully.I hope your song peace train brings real peace to the world. And a relief for those who are in agony.
Thank yu yusuf for your Adelaide concert. God is great but yu must come a close second. Tell your son not to get down from the little crowd responce. His band is great, but he must remember that they are 99% between 40 and I did see a lady 75 plus climbing the stairs to get into her chair. Come back, we miss you already. Stefan.
I love Yusuf Islam. I live in London and wished I was able to travel to Australia to see him live! I am keeping my fingers crossed that he tours the UK soon! Im sure the Australian tour will be brilliant
There are few guarantees in life but I may find myself at Brisbanes show. Personally I had always rated you along with some other great musicians originally from England. Given the brilliance of both John and George as solo artists - ( with regard the fact they grew so much within themselves ) and within their music post Beatles - I have said many times before if ever someone else their magic - it was the artist formerly known as Cat. It was therefore brilliant to merely see that pic of you and Paul MacCartney . As 4 Bono - does he remind you of anyone?? Peace. Hope to see you there. Peter
Assalamualaikum,
When are you coming back to Malaysia to perform concert and i belive for sure the old timer will be love to hear your songs live on stage.
Thankyou again Yusuf, and your wonderful bands (includes your son's!) for the fantastic show in Adelaide. It was truly the best in all ways, the audio-visuals were captivating. I've been a serious fan of you and your music since 1971, and still recall your 1972 show@Apollo Stadium. Thankyou for returning to perform for us;really you are blessed as a most inspired and gifted song-writer, composer and performer. I hope you always retain your natural warmth and generosity of spirit, and return many times to share your uplifting, heartfelt music. Listen to Prem Rawat speak www.wopg.org when you can. Rose
part 2 Wow it definately was surreal, only days after the concert I was questioning whether I had actually experienced all that magic or if it was just an amazing dream, it seems most people feel the same way. Noxshi were tight and Yorios had a great stage presence, (I think the genes help). I felt that it took them a few songs to get comfortable but they found their feet and their last two songs were mesmerizing. As for Yusuf well most has already been said. He was nearly losing me with the promotion of the musical but the beautiful visuals, his incredible narration, song tease and perfect timing of 'To be continued' pulled me through. Waltzing Matilda was incongruous. The band was absolutely brilliant, and thank you to all the behind the scenes people and the stadium staff who put so much work into making that event so special. Yusuf was, is, and will always be one of the greats and! Alun Davies thank alu you know paul keily and D.C.G.
THANK YOU ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
When I was 11years old hearing Cat on the radio while on my way to school, never would I have imagined that ..........fast forward to 2010 I would be taking my 16 year old daughter to his concert!! I really love Another Cup and Roadsinger and I look forward to seeing you in Melbourne on the 16th.Thankyou for the music.
Tracey.
I love this man. I have listened to him since I was 12 years old. Even then his soul resonated with truth. Although I missed him and his musical creation for several years, I respected his choices. His wisdom far outreaches his songs, if that is at all possible. And now he reflects, in song. Thank you for returning Yusuf.
Yusuf, I thought I was destined to never see a Cat Stevens concert in my lifetime.
Since I bought Teaser in the Firecat in the 70s I have followed your journey, bought all your albums and listened to your music for hours on end. On Sunday we travelled from Whyalla to see your Adelaide concert and my lifetime dream was fullfilled.
Thanks for the opportunity Yusuf, Please come back again ....
Please come to the United States! There are many people here who would love the opportunity to see you and hear your music. For those of us who have cherished your music forever, it's the chance of a lifetime!
My Dearest Yusuf.
As I said before that you have blessed us with your return to music.
And now you have blessed your Australian fans by singing "Ruby Love"
Oh how I wish that you sang that song at your UK concerts, I would have loved to have heard you sing that song live.
Maybe next time?.
I wnet to the Perth Concert, what agreat show. Have been a fan for many years apart from our ages not much has changed. Yosuf (Cat) put on a great show and we the funs loved it. Yep well worth the wait.

My sons and I came from Canberra for the concert. Navid 21 and Jamal 19 who are both accomplished musicians couldn't wait to get there, as they said growing up with Cat Steven's music was their inspiration. They said it was the most memorable night of their lives and without a doubt it was the most incredible concert I have ever been to. Not only did Yusuf provide us all the most wonderful musical experience, it went beyond this - his humility and inner peace touched us all - as many of the comments have so aptly stated the room was filled with love. We wait with interest to see what will unfold with the musical Moonshadow. My daughter's name is Anisa so that was nice for us to hear the name in the story. It was so amazing too, to be able to hear Noxshi. What an unbelieveable night - one we will NEVER forget.
I was fortunate enough to be at the Adelaide gig 13/6/10, having last saw Yusuf at his Apollo Stadium gig many moons ago.
Really nothing much has changed,we are both a bit greyer and no doubt a bit wiser, but for someone I have never met in person last night in Adelaide was like catching up with an old friend.
A simply brilliant concert by a true master.Thank you Yusuf for making a return to the craft that has given so many including myself such comfort and joy!
You're the best by far!
Cheers
Patrick

Went to see Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam tonight. Based on interviews I'd seen with him over the past few years I was expecting a fairly staid almost formal rendition of his greatest hits and a few new offerings, but it was cool, relaxed, lots of fun, and he's still got what it takes!

Totally inspired by Cat of Adel Posted at 9:06 AM Today
the best musical comeback of all time ... the Cat Man was simply sensational. the anticipation of Cat's fans before he came on stage was like no other ... the performance euphoric. he blended the golden oldies with his new tracks with immense precision and his performance was "story-like", literally. as a 39 year old & having followed & loved his music through the '80's & '90's, i never thought i'd ever see this genious in real life,

Another great one!! Keep on rockin' Yusuf! We, at Majicat, are as excited for each new concert (in beautiful Australia), as the people are! How wonderful that you, Yoriyos, and your bands, have been so warmly welcomed. I must say...I'm not surprised! Thanks for coming back!

Just returned from the Adelaide concert and we were blown away with the awesome performance.
Yusuf's voice is timeless and faultless. It was an absolute privilege to be there. To see the photo of my son and I during the playing of Father and Son was very special.
Hope to see you again on your return to Adelaide in the near future and can't wait to hear what happens to Stormy.

alun you are a good mate ....paul keily
You are one of God's chosen prophets Yusuf. A mediator between God and His people. Listening to your words as you sang for us last Thursday felt as if God Himself was speaking with me. Declaring to me and assuring me over and over again that i'm on the right path, your music is liberating, freeing, soul moving. thank you Yusuf for coming to us. love is the most powerful thing and your love was felt throughout the whole concert. you have been given a lot and it's a given for us to receive from you. i took it all in with an open receiving heart. thank you again for your words, your music, your love for the common people. come again soon. i also really enjoyed your son's music. i had to shut my eyes as i listened to that divine music his band created.
there are two wonderful video clips [on youtube] that appear to have been made from the audience of the Perth concert just the other night ! Moonshadow and Tuesday's Dead . For those of us who could not travel this is lovely:)
After Yusuf's concert last Thursday, I dreamt that I met him and said "thank you for coming back and sharing your music with us." I was at peace then because although many fans yelled out to him while he was on stage, I just wanted to thank him. I felt that his concert was so relaxed and he was so friendly and open chatting with the crowd, I felt like I knew him and I understood the lyrics of his music so much more. Yusuf's voice was so clear and untouched by the years. I hadn't realised that the support band was his son's band and I was so impressed. I really liked the bluesy guitar feel that the band had. Thanks to both of you for a night I will never forget. A big thanks also for playing my absolute favourite song "The Wind". With love, Tracy
How lucky we are to live in an age in which we can experience an event that happens so far away! All the way from the US I can share the excitement of those in Perth. Watching the videos brought back all the memories of seeing you at Shepherd's Bush and Royal Albert Hall. You bring so much joy to your fans and we are honored to have you back. I know I will see you perform again. Welcome home, my friend; welcome home.
Only from just reading all this great comments ,to feel how happy those people were on your performing Yusuf make me just happy and content .I 'm also glad Noxshi did it so wonderfull give them my compliments ,they will make it ,don't be to nervous Yoriyos next time .Peace Regine
This is to the wonderful and gracious Yusuf fans in Perth Australia.A big thanks from USA ,for taking the time and informing your happy/happiest experience /s, listening to the music of this great soul.He is one of the most brilliant, talented, nicest and witty human being in todays world. Is`nt it amazing how he inspires happiness and peace within each human soul. Yet there are a few who will not stop throwing false and phantom allegations at him and Every time and each time Yusuf repels evil with that which is Good.
May I ask you all to,take time to express your emotions of joy and awe meeting Yusuf,as headline banners in the local and national AU news papers.I feel he desrves this recognition
sooner than later .Big thanks again. Peace and progress.
Yusaf we have had your music as part of our lives for 40 years. We had your music at our wedding 25 years ago and at my brothers funeral 7 months ago but to see you live has moved us as no other performer ever has.We wish you move as many souls as you can with your music. The world needs a person like you to make people stop and think welcome back please come back to Perth
I'd say more than a great success!!
Congratulations to all of you on stage and in the audience.
So good to have you back beloved Yusuf!
Give us more, more, more...
i've ever had with a man with his band (and what a band! Eric and Kwame rocked the house angels must have guided your paths together because good lord has blessed them ever so!) playing guitar and singing songs. when you said yoriyos was one of the chaps that persuaded you to pick up guitar i shouted 'good on you mate' God bless you all. come back. there was a big fellow in front of me so i couldn't see the whole show lol i will never forget the 10th of june in 2010!
wow wow wee wah! that was the best show i have ever seen. cat your work to date is absolutely full.such well rounded inter-connections between the songs old and new. almost like a communication between under and over fragmented space and time. it was so funny when you came back for the second encore we had stopped standing were all just sitting and waiting for more songs. poor fellow you didn't have anymore tunes rehearsed. what a lovely night. for the past few years I've been in a downward spiral that brought me close to suicide. your one of the sages who helped pull me out of hell. for your music i am truly grateful, uncle. god bless you thank you. the storytelling of stormie and his moonshadow was so captivating i felt like a child again listening to grandfather playing guitar singing songs and telling story. for somefellow to capture that moment as just a video on youtube does no justice to the feeling i had. i wish we had invented a time machine or some type of virtual reality experience-er because that was the most absolute fantastic experience i've ever had with a man with his band (and what a band! Eric and Kwame rocked the house angels must have guided your paths togeth
After seeing your soul stirring concert last night in Perth I was driving to work in the early hours of this morning and was greeted by the most beautiful dawn I have seen for many a year. Perhaps God was smiling on us all after your return to Australia. You gave us a wonderful gift last night and I can only hope it is a gift you continue to give for many years to come. Welcome back !!!
I have been to many gigs in my life, but that one was so filled withlove towards yusuf that it filled th room completely. I found myself reflecting on my own life and the happy place I now inherit in between words and song that Yusuf sang. I found myself thinking of my own loved ones who no longer dwell here on Earth. I thought of God and was thankful for all I have. I'm so happy that Yusuf has embraced his past. His sons band was good too. Thanks to all. Come back again.
