Christchurch: The Final Show

Here’s the set list from the final gig of Yusuf’s tour of Australia and New Zealand, which took place at the CBS Canterbury Arena in Christchurch, NZ.

A heartfelt thanks for all the lovely comments during this tour. Yusuf has seen a lot of the comments and outpouring of love. He loved being back in Australia, and New Zealand for the first time.

Thank you for showing Wayne and his son during Father & Son is was very special for him. At 1am you took the time to sign our programme and shake our hand - you were very gracious (especially given the time) and we will treasure that moment.

GOING TO SEE CAT STEVENS (by Tom Loveridge, aged 6). On Friday the 2nd of July my Dad and I and my Uncle Peter went westpac sentre to see Cat Stevens. He sang a lot of songs. My favourite songs were where do the children play?, Wild world, peace traln, I like the moonshadow story and I like the thunder and lightning when he was telling the moonshadow story. I like his guitars. I like the guy who play's the keyboard his fingers moved very fast. There where more than 1000 people.2 children came , that was me and another boy. It was a late night but I felt excited, the concert was excellent. I am very very excited about my next concert,Leonard Cohen!

Yusuf, seeing you in a concert was a dream come true. I was sitting next to my brother, who, when he was living in Vanuatu didn't take one your albums out of his cassette player for years (apart from turning it over). And when he did take it out after 4 years, it was just to put another Cat Stevens tape in! Thank you for giving our lives depth and joy.

I am only 21 years old yet have been a fan of yours for many years and cannot believe how lucky I am to have been able to see you in concert! I loved how you were so down to earth and real in your performance - it felt like we could have stopped to chat with you afterwards like old friends!! It's hard to describe how surreal it was to hear your voice and your melodies live in concert - absolutely fantastic. Thanks too for including "Don't Be Shy" - my personal favourite! Yusuf, your songs have been the soundtrack to my life, and it was an enormous privilege to see you perform them in person, something that I not long ago never believed would ever happen. When "Cat Stevens" exited the world stage he left behind an incomparable body of work that resounds still. I join the world in rejoicing that you have found a place for the past in your present and future. My 6-year-old son, who has nearly worn out my copy of your "Best Of" CD, accompanied me on Friday night, and you made a huge impression on him. He has spent the last two days singing your songs and constantly reminding me of a very special evening. It is rare to attend a show where the artist connects so completely with his audience. It was not easy for either of us to come back to earth. Thank you Yusuf. Please return.

Had a lot of fun downloading your albums from itunes and love the 2 new ones. my ipod has been running hot since the Auckland concert. I wondered if you are planning on including Izitso and Numbers in the collection please. Lookng forward to the Australasian Tour DVD.
