Australian-NZ Tour

Yusuf returns to the Australian Stage after 36 years and will tour New Zealand for the first time ever this June.

For a great many admirers in Australia it seemed unlikely that the artist they knew and loved as Cat Stevens would return to the stage and that his timeless songs would reach them in anything other than tribute shows. Never stop believing, as they say. Following his successful short Tour of UK and Ireland, he’s decided to accept the offer made by Paul Dainty, his old promoter, to come back and tour again for his fans.

From his home in Dubai Yusuf said, ‘I’m very excited to get back to Australia. There’s a lot of history between me and my journey there. I was given some books on Rumi and Numerology in Sydney back in 74. It was all part of my Road to Findout. I’ll have the same band as my UK Tour, and Alun Davies will be with me again.’

2. How lucky are we? We read on 25/4 that Yusuf would be touring Oz & we were able to get pre sale tickets on 26/4 thru Show Biz....thanks Show Biz. We grew up listening to the "Cat" & now we will have the pleasure of listening to Yusef. Our son & his wife,sister & huband will all be joining us in enjoying the night with the Legend himself.You should know that you have been in our hearts for the last 40 yrs & our hearts burst with pride with the knowledge that you are still able to perform as you did 40yrs ago. But I will not be part of this emotional blackmail & I will not accept that Yusuf cannot do anything about it. A caring artist sets these sort of conditions to the promoter. So its back to viewing Yusuf's Cafe and Majikat!!

4. YES! Great that Yusuf is touring Australia again, but a massive NO to the pricing & arrangement of tickets! YES the promoter sets ticket price. NO, this is a cop out excuse! Someone of Yusuf's stature in the world, both musically & culturally, would provide him with the power to demand promoters maintain a respectable ticketing structure. This is surely within Yusuf's principals - those very same principals he left the music business for '78. This Australian tour is simply extortion - playing on Yusuf's lovingly dedicated (& patient) audience. I.E. Adelaide (not at a great venue, acoustically & comfort wise) Silver tickets AU$139+$5 BF (book early online!) These seats consist only of the last 3 rows at the very top of the venue (normally the dregs & just about in the rafters!). This represents a measly 15% of all seats in the arena!! This is manipulative & WRONG! So next level - Gold - seating in 'the stands' around the arena will set you back AU$170 + $5BF! This is now an unreasonable price for what used to be a 'normal' ticket! If you do want to get any closer, it will cost you a massive AU$219 + $5BF! This is exhorbitant! I love Yusuf & his

I think IF you came to Cyprus and sang in Nicosia - with speakers facing the North and South - Wonderful Changes could happen here in Cyprus where the Country is still divided after so many Years ! I am told your Farther came from a Village not far from where my "speti" is near Kallepia ( pafos area ) ! Should you consider this ...you would make your relatives very Happy i think ! 7. I was introduced to Cat Stevens through my older Sister back in the seventies and I have loved the music ever since. We are both planning to go to the concert in Adelaide and can't wait. Will Yusuf be playing his old songs - Moonshadow, Ruby Love, Father & Son, Tea for the Tillerman etc etc etc as we would love very much to hear them as well as his newer ones?

9. I am so pleased to hear that one the greatest singer song writers, and general human beings, is going to come to Australia. I turn 46 on the 23/6/2010 and I live in Sydney, so if I can afford a ticket or 2 I shall be there, what a perfect 46th present that would make. But if I can't, I say well thats life and it just was not meant to be. Oh yeah Father & Son is about the best song ever written.

10. Oh my. When I first discovered Cat Stevens, back in the the nineties, buying the albums and reading his story, I always though "Well, never get to see him in concert." Then his songs were used in Telecom adverts here in NZ and Yusuf seemed to be more heard about in the wider public (in a good way) and remembered. Then he made a few forays into a recording studio, and appearances on stage, with-out instruments BUT I dared to hope. Then "Another Cup"-unbelievable. Now he's coming to New Zealand. Thank you, thank you! I wonder if Suzanne Lynch (former backing singer and well known NZ singer) will be appearing too? Safe trip and looking forward to June 29th!

11. At 44 have grown up listening to this music first as cat stevens then as Yusef Islam. It never fails to move me and listen endlessly finding something new in the music and lyrics everytime, enlightened my girls when they were little and at 20 and 18 they are as big a fans as I. It is with incredible excitement and anticipation I await June/July 2010 for it is something that I always wished but never expected to happen. YAHOO and THANK YOU from New Zealand (and Australia) may you leave with new experiences and wisdoms from your visit here as I know you will leave us.

15. Thank you for the wonderful memories you have concreted in my mind. My youth was so many memories of Cat Stevens. I found that again when I went to be with my sister while she went through cancer treatment in Saudi Arabia - Riyadh. We connected and found solace in the music of our youth and part of that was you. 23. WOW....Lost for words.... I'm a 24 yo Male and grew up listening to your music mostly because of my mother, i received a text message the morning this was announced from my partner, and i nearly fell over and it was only 6 moths ago we were talking about flying to the UK to see one of your concerts, as i wanted to see at least one in my lifetime. So now i have booked a plane ticket for my mother to fly from the Gold Coast to Melbourne so we can go to the concert together... And this i'm sure will be the best day of our life thank you Yusuf!!

Absolutely thrilled that Yusuf is visting our shores again.Have had the pleasure of seeing 3 of his shows when he visited Adelaide and Melbourne in the early 70s.Got to meet him after the Adelaide Show on his 2nd visit and grew up listening and loving his music. 49. My Mum has been a fan since a massive Cat Stevens poster adorned her bedroom wall as a teenager. We saw a musical of Cat/Yusuf's life last year and she thought it was the closest she'd ever get. When she heard the news this morning, I have never in my life heard her so excited, she sounded like a teenager. She said she could die happy once she'd seen this. You have three generations of fans in our family and we'll all be there to see this amazing event. Thank you so much for making my Mum's dream come true, we can't wait for 26 June!

50. I am shattered that this has been announced. I have grown up listening to your music and it has inspired me on many levels. I have had the privilege to see all the musicians that have made a significant impact on my life. I always assumed that you would be the only one I would not get to see live. I was so happy when I saw this up on the Ticketek website.. Just to find out your not coming to Perth. I looked up flights to Adelaide but it would be too expensive for me (only 21) to fly again this year. Devastated that I will miss a once in a lifetime opportunity to see you in person. 51. My husband just phoned me to tell me the news, I was so excited. Then I came hereto out the dates .. big disappointment as we will not be in the country for any of the Australian dates. Only hope is to fly to Christchurch for the July 2nd concert .. well it will be my actual birthday! I was at the Sydney concert back in 1974, it was wonderful.
