Yusuf's Girls' School Tops 100%

Official results of this year’s GCSEs show Islamia Girls’ School beating last year’s record and achievements. The school has been regularly topping the local Exam League Tables in Brent since 1994. Many of the girls go on to higher studies and university and have succeeded in breaking down misconceptions about the importance of education for women in Islam. Islamia Girls’ School is a fee paying school but is subsidized by Yusuf’s charity. The school is driven by committed parents and teachers, with high moral expectations, overseen by its Principal, Fauzia Islam.

9. Mubarak! Congratulations! This is a great achievement for the school and for the girls! To be honest, I am someone who is ambivalent about faith schools of any sort, though I recognise that either one has none, or else allow for all. I also recognise that in the context of unbridled monetarist capitalism, the promotion of individual selfishness and instant gratification and the death of the concept of community, endemic structural inequality consigns many kids to failure. The consistent level of educational success of these, and other, specific school(s) is a testament to the good education, teacher-parent committment and moral centring brought together in and generated by the schools. They demonstrate what can be achieved in a community. Well done indeed!

10. Let's see... I bought the CD, didn't download it from iTunes or anyone else, so HOW do I get the Boots and Sand audio song? I've seen the video, but really would like to have it in audio... Suggestions? Help? Thanks, ~P
