Yusuf To Open New Building At Hugh Myddleton

On Tuesday October 6th Yusuf will be visiting his old school, Hugh Myddleton in Clerkenwell, London, to open a new Â£2m redevelopment, which includes brand new music facilities.

On the day Yusuf will be interviewed by children from the school who are also planning to perform ‘Morning Has Broken’ for him.

Yusuf attended Hugh Myddleton in the ’60s, when it was a secondary school (it is now a primary school). He left with one O-level in art.

Says Yusuf:

“Those days when I was going to that school, there was a great revolution in music, I was listening to Radio Caroline, the pirates, and the Beatles were taking over the world.

There were no music lessons in the curriculum, you created those yourself after school. I’ve got a lot of good memories of the school and certain teachers that inspired me, particularly in the art department.”

3. Salam alaikum Sidi Yusuf, i'm so happy to wright this words and i hope that you can read them sidi Yusuf. I'm a very big fan of the great Cat stevens since 10 Years,sice i was 14..that was as i heard once "Father And Son" on the radio,i didn't know at the moment who the artist was but i said this can't be from a normal artist.. I konw all the music of You,and i love it all from the very early songs like "back to the good old times" and all the albums from 1966 untill 1978 ,of cource the Nasheeds ,"an other Cup" and "Roadsinger" too. Yusuf was in Germany 09,i was so sad as i knew that later because my dream number one in this life is to see him. For me he is the greater singer songwrighter of all time, and i hope that he would come to visit us in Berlin or an other city in Germany because people love him and respekt him so much. 6. Dear Linda, I just read all the poems on your website, and I felt that I had the privilege of looking into your heart. There is such a warm kindness in your poems - so optimistic and loving - I'm glad I read them. I hope you'll continue writing and sharing poems as you continue your search. P.S. 8. So glad to hear the kids at Hugh Myddleton will be getting new music facilities and all those marvelous benefits of music that Cynthia mentioned in her previous posts. Also looked up Radio Caroline and pirate music online - I never knew that some radio stations broadcast from offshore ships. So, I listened to Radio Caroline today - http://www.radiocaroline.co.uk/#home.html - just for fun. Best of luck to Yusuf on the interview - I wonder what the kids will ask...

10. Lucky children to have the new music facilities. I always loved our "listen to classical music sessions" at my high school, but only got as far as recorder lessons; still better than nothing....can still play Greensleeves!
