  Yusuf To Appear On Ken Bruce Show

  [Updated] This Friday Yusuf and the cast of Moonshadow will be heading to the Radio 2 studios to appear on the Ken Bruce show.

  Zoe Ball is sitting in for Ken this week and Yusuf will be talking to her about the eagerly anticipated Moonshadow Musical.

  The show airs from 9:30am-12pm, you can find out more details about it on the Radio 2 website.

  You can listen to Radio 2 at 88-91FM, on digital radio and online.

  1. Very interesting to see the article in the Liverpool Daily Post. I didn't realise about the tiger wandering in the audience on a previous tour, many moons ago. Hopefully this time, we'll just have our favourite human one. The "magic" will be hearing Yusuf(C.St.) sing live again! And we have an excerpt from "Moonshadow", too. Do we need anymore any excitement than that??

  4. Thank you for the link to the Birmingham Post article. It’s very exciting to know that Yusuf has a part in the Moonshadow showcase. Here’s the quote: “The part I play is a surprise – you’ll just have to be there!” I wonder if he plays Stormy’s father and sings the “father” part in “Father and Son”. Does this mean that Yusuf will be in the musical when it tours? It’s great to hear that Noel Sullivan plays the hero, who I believe is Moonshadow. Also, now I know why "'Wild World' sounds subtly different - like a very heart wrenching farewell from a parent to a child - just breathtaking." Here’s what Yusuf says in the Birmingham Post article: “Another beautiful moment in the story is when the mother is pining over the boy when he leaves home and she sings Wild World.” So, I listened again to “Wild World” on the Ken Bruce Show (1:21.25). Yusuf expresses the parent’s emotion so beautifully that I can’t help but wonder if he thinks of his own children as he sings it. Looking forward to hearing more.~ Peace and smiles.~

  8. I heard the Moonshadow Musical version of Matthew and son, on my radio...very impressed by the new lyrics and the voices. Yusufs voice seems to be getting better each time we hear him.( Wonder if he's gargling with olive oil?? )I dashed of to the library to hear the rest of the programme online. The sound production was outstanding. I thought his rendition of "Thinking 'bout you" was particularly beautiful.I just feel very happy everytime I hearhim sing livethese days. It really was such an unexpected joy to have him back singing to us! Can't wait for the tour,but hope he is getting enough rest.Love and Peace to Yusuf, and everyone who writes messages herexx

  9. I cried when he spoke, cried when he sang. I like what you say Sunny, about the child who draws the heart. Never struck me that way. Yes it represents fans who had to reach him from behind the closed window pane and continued through the years, to support him in their hearts from their place of detachment. I'm thankful to Almighty God for having reunited him with us.

Just thought I'd mention that Yusuf is introduced at ~10min 43seconds and "Matthew & Son" is then sung by, presumably, Moonshadow actor Ryan O’Donnell, along with Yusuf - very upbeat and energetic. It would've been lovely to have had the actors individually introduced and their parts in Moonshadow revealed. It's very nice to see Yusuf and the Moonshadow cast in the BBC gallery (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/maida-vale-75/gallery/index.shtml?gp=11#gallery5272). At the 1hr 15min mark, Yusuf performs "Roadsinger" - I just love the part with the child who smiles and draws a heart - I think she represent Yusuf's fans. Then he performs his classic "Wild World" - so pretty! Is it a regular keyboard that sounds like a child's xylophone? “Wild World” sounds subtly different - like a very heart wrenching farewell from a parent to a child - just breathtaking. “Thinking 'Bout You” comes just after the 1hr 54min mark and then Yusuf closes with an excellent performance of "Father and Son."
