Yusuf Performs at Fundraiser for Gaza
Yusuf joined a host of prominent figures at a fundraising dinner for the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians on Sunday evening. The dinner marked the launch of MAP’s campaign to raise £1m to provide medical relief to those affected by the recent conflict in Gaza.
After a warm introduction by journalist Jon Snow, Yusuf, accompanied by long time guitarist Alun Davies, performed three songs – Ruins, The Day the World Gets ‘Round and Peace Train Blues, leaving the stage to a standing ovation.
Many of Sunday night’s speakers, including comedian Bill Bailey, Mark Steel and ex-BBC journalist Rageh Omaar, condemned the BBC’s refusal to broadcast the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) appeal for humanitarian aid.
