Yusuf at the BBC Radio Theatre

Yusuf delighted an audience that filled The Radio Theatre, Broadcasting House, London, this evening, leaving the stage to a rapturous standing ovation.

The intimate yet powerful performance featured old favourites such as Oh Very Young, Portobello Road and Father and Son together with a selection from his latest album, Roadsinger, including All Kinds of Roses, Welcome Home and the single, Thinking ‘Bout You.

1. Dear Yusuf, like I see all my friends of Majicat: Sue, Marie, Helen, Michelle, Joanne , Lora, Eduardo, Jane, Christine, Doreen, Sonja, Greg, Walter, dear Sheila who you have met in the concert of London are posting lovely comments I can't stand behind.
  
  I heard the concert on BBC and it sounded so great just as in Shepherds Bush that I was a bit sad I was not there to hear Portobello Road, Into White and more. I hope to get the chance again to do this together with all my friends of Majicat, really it's so fine you are singing again and like Sue said thank you Fauzia for being so generous, you have really a lovely family. 3. Thank you for your wonderful new album, "roadsinger," Yusuf. I'm enjoying each and every song. Being a fan from way back when, and enjoying your concerts as Cat when you came to my city, I love that this album features you and your guitar. The music is beautiful and the melodies and your voice brought back so many magical memories. Thanks for sharing yourself with us once again.
  
  On another musical note, I would like to mention two fantastic singer/songwriters I met on the former CS.com, Sonia Milan and Greg Patton. These two met on CS.com a few years ago and discovered their mutual lifetime love of music. Greg was from California and Sonia from Italy. Over time, they met in person and began making beautiful music together, calling themselves Ameritalian and performing all over the world, along with producing two CDs in their own music studio.
  
  Sonia and Greg have beautiful voices, and when they harmonize together, with the heart touching words and music they have composed, it opens up deep felt emotions. When you hear them sing, you know they mean it when they say, "Music is life. It's that simple."

5. Dearest Yusuf, first of all THANKS for being here, for keeping on writing this absolutely wonderful music that is the message of peace everyone of us needs. I owe a lot to you and to your music.
  
  I was a member of catstevens.com for many years as Ciociosan. I used to sing a lot of yours songs, and I still do... So thanks to you I got to meet my soul mate, 10,000 km far... I live in Italy and he lives in California. But distance is nothing when two souls match and form just one soul.
  
  We wrote more than 80 songs.... performed all over the world and always we start with THE WIND and WHERE DO THE CHILDREN PLAY in your honour, telling everybody we owe our happiness to a kind man like you. 6. My husband and I were lucky enough to win tickets to the recording at the BBC. Only being born in 1967 I have only in recent years discovered your music, but absolutely love it.
  
  I also have two sons who love your music and the oldest took a CD of your music to school to share when he was only six years old (now eight), others took "popular Music"! He was devastated that he was unable to see you perform due to his age, I hope he will be luckier in the future. Sally, Norfolk.

7. Yusuf, reading on your website all the comments from fans has been an incredible emotional experience. This is truly a different time period from the one in the 70s. The Internet has made communication interactive between artist and fan, and Yusuf you must be overwhelmed at the response that you have received. Your music has always had a special place in my heart, and has helped me tremendously on the journey of life, but it has been a pleasant surprise reading others' experiences and realizing how you have touched so many lives.
  
  I loved the songs you played tonight, some of them going back to when you first started. I loved it that you sang "Miles from Nowhere". I have especially loved that song, for it was a journey song for me, one of many that led me to the One. To the broadcast I listened, shed some happy emotional tears, and felt the love. 8. Just finished listening on the BBC website - fantastic setlist, wonderful execution! Portobello Road was charming as ever, and Into White was, quite simply, sublime. 10. Yusuf, once again, timing is everything, and your music is timeless, and very much needed. I see Walter, Vivian, Christine, Regine, SuzieQ,and others from the "CatStevens.com site commented on this forum. Sonia Milan, from Italy, and myself, from America,("Ameritalian") met because of your web site, and we have written many songs, and performed all over the world, because of you, and your music. 12. Aslaam o alaikum, Yusuf. By looking at you one thing is clear that when ALLAH showers the blessings on HIS loved ones then there are no limits of success... believe me I've seen tears in eyes when people are looking at your interviews and your documentaries that how close you are to ALLAH and you are one of ALLAH's dear ones.
  
  On the other side there are people like us who are Muslim just by name who have forgotten everything about their beautiful religion. But deep inside it feels so good and fresh whenever I see your picture, video, or an interview.
  
  I've bought your new album, it's just amazing and so peaceful. I loved every bit of it. Hats off to you :) May ALLAH be with you on your every step, may ALLAH's peace be with you and your family. Ameen.

15. Dear Yusuf: It's nice to hear you again. I watched all your interviews in the U.S. recently and must say you handled yourself well on the Colbert Report show....KUDOS. When I was a young girl your music began my own search for truth, however different paths, you were spark that began Christianity for me. You have a great heart and are in my prayers regularly.
