The Countdown Has Begun...

[Updated] Final rehearsals for the Moonshadow musical preview, part of Yusuf’s Guess I’ll Take My Time tour, have begun at the historic Elstree Studios.

All members of the cast and band, together with Yusuf, have been running through the show segment at the George Lucas Stage (used during the filming of the Star Wars trilogy), with a full production team on hand. The spectacular visual imagery produced by illustrator Dogan Ur has been a particular highlight so far – and promises to be just one of the magical features in a show full of surprises.

The first stop on the tour will be on Sunday November 15th, at the o2 arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Hi due to personal reasons I am unable to go to the concert a the RAH, I have two tickets centre circle for Tue 8 Dec 09, I am looking for what I paid only and am selling here rather than on an auction site because I want these to go to a real fan of Yusuf like myself and not a tout, I have spoken to ticketmaster and have been told I can sell these tickets and then give them the info on who I am selling to and they will inform the RAH of the change, contact me at pedroandjen@sky.com

2. I went to the concert last night in Dublin with my wife. I had waited 30 years to see Yusuf.I was not dissappointed. It was an inspiring show pulling together the threads of a rich back catalogue and showcasing some of the excellent new work. The preview of "Moonshadow" was fantastic. I was deeply embarrassed by the reaction of some of the audience (who clearly had not read the pre-concert publicity or even looked at their tickets). Sadly, they are representative of both the ignorance and bad manners wich now pervade our society. Yusuf's even handed response spoke volumes for the man. Ultimatley, the music had the last word. 3. Great concert last night Yusuf, really enjoyable, loved the musical and the suprise at the end was a nice touch too. It is good to see such a variety in a show, myself and a friend travelled from Cork to see you and were really looking forward to seeing the musical and see you perform old and new songs alike. I was sat in an area where some people around us were being totally ignorant and only seemed to recognise you for only one song, Father & Son, and seemed to only want to hear you sing this song instead of the true fans who recognise you as being one of the greatest singer/songwriters to have ever walked the face of the earth. Loved the show and love your new work as much as the old work. Spent the night travelling home listening to "Another Cup", looking forward to listening to "Roadsinger", I feel priveliged to have witnessed you in concert, didn't arrive home til 3 in the morning but would do it all again as it was totally worth it!! I have been to many concerts in the past and have never seen an audience be so disrespectful, i felt embarrased and slightly angry to be part of that crowd but i know it wouldn't affect you.

4. I was also at the concert in Dublin last night. I very much enjoyed the performance by Jusuf and the band but was unprepared for the lengthy preview of 'The Musical' in the middle of the show. The longer it went on the more I wondered if Yusuf would return. When he eventually did there was a very uneasy atmosphere, due to the reaction of some of the audience. I think if it was announced before the interval that Yusuf would return following the musical preview there would have been very little unrest. Although I agree that the preview was too long and personally didn't enjoy seeing actors singing the clasics I came to see Yusuf perform. Bill

5. I live abroad but came home to Dublin to see Yusuf's gig. I thought it was a really good show, and I was shocked and embarassed by the small minority of idiots who booed and heckled during the musical peformance. On behalf of Ireland I'd like to apologise to Yusuf. Anyway, Yusuf handled it all with pure class and never once got angry at the idiots who heckled. The man represents peace and i think he showed that tonight. For all those people who were annoyed at the musical segment to the show, well they should have read the advertisements for the gig before forking out 100eurs on a ticket. It was plainly obvious to me that this was coming, and if the had bothered listening to the songs and watching the show they might have got more insight into Yusuf's songs and life story. Yusuf, your a legend, keep up the good work.

Your voice is still awesome.Thank you for playing ' All Kinds of Rose's 'in Dublin last night.I did not enjoy the musical,it went on too long and as a result I left feeling disappointed and a little cheated.Had you played ' Morning has Broken ' on piano you would have made my year.still a fan and actually quite enjoyed the concert but expected much more ! go with peace,love and light you wonderful soul !

8. Yusuf, I was at your concert last night and enjoyed all of it very much. Your voice is unchanged since I first started enjoying your music in the 70s, which was a treat in itself. I feel very sad that you and your family were treated so badly. I don't understand why people could have been so wantonly ill mannered and rude, to you, to your family and to your cast. If it is any consolation and it probably is not, but there has been quite a response via radio this morning and, with one exception, those calling in were full of praise and embarrasment in equal measure at what happened. I wish you well with the rest of the tour and thank you for last night's show. I hope you will return to Dublin some day. You still have many many fans here. 9. Dear Yusuf, so many comments about last night's concert in Dublin already and there isn't much else I can add to it. I was a huge fan when i was a teenager and i never ever thought i would see you in concert. It was a miracle... and thank you so much. I loved every bit and your musical will be fantastic! A pity that there were some ignorant people in the audience, okay not everybody is into musicals, but there is no need to be so rude! We were really stunned by the reaction of a small minority of the crowd and I hope you realise that most of us were enthralled and exhilirated by seeing and hearing you after all these years. 11. Thanks sooo much for last night concert Yusuf! I am Italian and i live in Ireland and i made my dad (Big Neil Young's fan) come here to view this great concert... I do have to admit that the musicall was a bit too long and i woulded have preferred to hear wild world sang by you and not them!! I do think that every song you sang was better than a CD and i was impressed how different was Peace Train compared with the Majicat tour! I really think that if you wrote on the concert advertising poster about the 40 min musical in between you could've avoided all those boo... I would spend again 95 euros for you concert even if i do think that now days concerts have become way too expensive...!! my dad was saying that 20 years ago all the young crowd woulded have pushed the barriers to get in without paying due to the fact that a singer that sings about poverty and rights of the people and peace shouldn't charge 95 euros for a unique night show! anyway i love you music and im glad that GOD brought you to dublin!! 13. I was at your show last night. My girlfriend bought tickets to celebrate our anniversary. I've been a big fan for years and was really looking forward to seeing you play live. Things are tight at the moment so the tickets were a big spend for us. If I could, I would go again in a heart beat. I loved the whole show. Some people around me were wolf whistling which I just can't understand. If they want to hear Cat Stevens sing all the hits then they should listen to a CD! and not try to disrupt the enjoyment for others like myself who want to hear and see what you have to give. Best for luck with the rest for the dates. Love the new album. Niall.

We loved every minute of it apart from the activities of a few hooligans who thought they could spoil the show by bringing their own inimitable brand of squalour to the proceedings. Never mind them - if they don't like music it's their problem, not ours. Well done and thank you for a memorable evening (the missus has always had a secret thing for Ronan...).

15. Yusuf, Thankyou for a concert that you, the band and performers clearly put your hearts and souls into (Dublin O2 Arena). The people in your musical were brilliant and sang your songs beautifully. Not wishing to take from them, it was you I came to see. My heart sank to my boots when that part of the show was on; sitting in the audience the atmosphere was very nasty. I was ashamed to be a part of it at that point. To hear Father & Son being sung by strangers was heartbreaking when I knew you were just off stage somewhere. At that point I just wanted to hear your voice somewhere in it. But thanks for the extra surprise at the end when you sang it with Ronan. That was a good surprise! I applaud (and I did applaud) the chap who came out and sang Moonshadow with you. I'm sure he must have been a little concerned about how he would be received. He was excellent! Thank you for the extra songs you gave us at the end. It has been my privilege to see you perform. I wish you success with the rest of the tour.

16. Yusuf, your concert last night in the 02 Dublin was awesome. My husband, son, 2 friends and I enjoyed every minute of the performance. New and old songs - fantastic! The insight into the Moonshadow musical was so special and we will definitely go to see it. Well done to the performers! Those ignorant people that caused so much annoyance last night made us feel ashamed. The best of luck with the rest of the tour and hopefully you will return to Ireland again. 17. Ah Yusuf I was at the O2 in Dublin last night with my two daughters, 10 and 7, and their mother. We really enjoyed you and your musical but some of the audience left a lot to be desired. During some of the loudest heckling my 7 year old turned to me and said "Dad I wish we had a big flag which says I love you Cat Stephens." She felt that you needed visible support and that was her way of wanting to let you know that there were those of us there that love you and were there for you. I have waited so long to see you and you did not disappoint.

18. Yusuf, first off it was great to see you perform last night, something I thought I would never see. I enjoyed your old and new songs alike. To hear you sing and play is a memory I will treasure. I enjoyed the musical, and I will go see it, it did run on a bit too long though, but that did not bother me, I went in with my eyes open. I'm in my 20s so probably one of the younger members of the audience last night and I would like to apologise for elements of the crowd. It was pure ignorance and I'm whole heartedly sorry. I hope someday we may see you again in Dublin, I fear we may not, but I thank you for last night and wish you every success with the tour and musical.

20. Yusuf, I would like to thank you for last night's performance in the o2. It was a pleasure to witness a two-and-a-half-hour performance with such variety. I was expecting to see some songs (old & new) as well as a preview of the play as advertised. I really enjoyed this tale of young boy trying to discover his path in life and it was a pleaseure to be among the first people to witness it. It was evident that people were frustrated by the musical, and I appologise on their behalf, but for me it only added to the surprise element of the show itself! After telling some people beside me to be quiet I could really relate to 'This Glass World' (played at the end of the musical) as the song summed up the crowds reaction. Apart from the musical, The songs itself were also fantastic (you should be very proud of Roadsinger btw) and I left with the feeling that it was money very well spent. I can't see how some people didn't enjoy the gig, it seems like they would have been happier to hear someone mime Moonshadow, F & S, Wild World and Peace train for 2 hours. Maybe they should have stayed in and watched X-Factor. Idtiots. Thank you very, very much for such an eventful and awe in

I was appalled by the actions of some of the audience and hope that the cast were not too upset by them and that taking '5 minutes' to be with them helped. 25. A message to Yusuf, it was clear from the day your show was announced that Moonshadow was to play a part in the evening. I apologise sincerely for the actions of a few idiots in the crowd, booing when children are on stage is unforgiveable and pig ignorant. As for your music i enjoyed both old and new and felt whatever you decided to sing was good enough for me! Your version of Lilywhite was mesmerising and i wish you well in the future. As with any country there were people there last night that are just too ignorant to appreciate what they saw last night. I left the show angry and dejeceted but elated at the the same time having just seen the best singer / songwriter of all time. Please dont tar us all with the same brush. Brian

26. Some things in life surprise us, and other things sometimes do not have an answer or cannot be explained. I was not at the Dublin concert, but have been reading many of the statements from those that were. I am disappointed that some would respond in the way that they did at this concert. I believe that those who are your true fans knew what to expect, and would never do what some did. The addition of the musical was not a surprise. God knows that you have been very clear in your interviews, Yusuf, about what one should expect. And the reaction by some at the concert? Go figure. My wife and I had the priviledge of seeing you in LA at the El Rey Theatre, and it was an incredible night. I loved every minute of the 50 or so minutes that you sang and played. In a heart beat, if the opportunity arose, I would see you again. I do not live in LA, but reside in Calgary, Canada. I would love it if you came here, but would settle for Montreal (have you heard that they closed the recording studio at Morin Heights?), Toronto, or Vancouver. 27. Thank you so much Yusuf for a wonderful concert in the 02 in Dublin. I was however, amazed and very sadden by the response and behaviour of some of the audience. I was a big fan of 'Cat Stevens', in the 70's but I did not know what to expect at your concert in Dublin all these years later; but I was not dissappointed, I enjoyed every moment of it. Being only a little younger than you I am very aware of how I have changed since the 70's and where my live journey has brought me. With this in mind I went to your concert knowing that you too have been on your unique personal life journey laced with 'change', therefore I had no preconceived expectations of the night and guess what? 30. Just back from the Dublin gig. Thank you Yusuf, your music is still great and it was a pleasure to see you live. I can understand the frustration of those who didn't know that the musical was to be showcased tonight. Some people wanted to hear only you. Understandable. Please don't be put off and come back and play in Ireland again soon. Your work for peace and understanding among people of different faiths is really needed.

31. I'm also just home from the gig in the O2 Dublin. I can agree with both sides of the argument below The show began at approx 8pm and finished at approx 10.30pm. There was an extended â€˜previewâ€™ of moonshadow (the musical) that went on for about 45mins (a bit too long if Iâ€™m completely honest) BUTâ€¦ (this is a big but by the way)â€¦â€¦ Yusuf played for about 1 Â½ hours and what he played was absolutely fantastic, and if you went back in time and told be he was going to play for 1 Â½ hours and sold the tickets for the same priceâ€¦. I would be there againâ€¦.. and again I do agree that a lot of the â€˜classicsâ€™ were tied up in the preview of the musical. I wish â€˜Stormyâ€™ wellâ€¦ but I would have preferred to hear more of Cat. Still a fan, Alan

I loved the performance tonight, including the musical..I would have liked it more if I could hear it but some people are just so narrow minded and have no respect and feel the need to make people feel bad about there performance !! For those of you narrow minded people he did actually return to sing his oldies which seems to be all you people know and he even had Ronan keating up to see Father and Son at the end!!

33. I agree with miriam..I thought the whole production was amazing!! I loved the musical and will be going to see it in full when it comes!! I thought Yusuf was brilliant and for those of you ignorant to leave so early..he did actually come out and sing the oldies at the end and then Ronan keating made an appearance just at the end to sing father and son..which I loved!! I feel sorry for the people who were so narrow minded!!

34. I am just back from the concert in Dublin and felt compelled to write something that I hope you will get Yusuf. I really enjoyed the concert, your voice is as good as ever and you gave it everything. Please tell the other singers that they were excellent also. I appreciated what you were doing with Moonshadow. I am sorry that others were possibly more narrow minded. You handled it with dignity. I was brought up listening to your music, my father is a big fan and we both enjoyed the gig. I have n't bought the new albums yet but I shall after hearing your more recent work tonight. Take care and I wish you all the very best in the coming shows. 37. I have just returned home from the Yusuf Islam concert in Dublin Ireland (23.10pm). I cannont express my disappointment at this show. I expexted to see & hear Yusuf play and sing his own songs,I did not expect to see "Cat Stevens the musical" perforemed by children and others. I have been to many concerts over the years, but this is the very first time I walked out of any performance. For the the first time in my life I was "duped", my self and two firends payed â‚¬247.00 for our 3 tickets for what was probably the worst gig I have (in my 48 years) ever attended. We expected to hear Yusuf sing and we could have lived with Yusuf singing badly but after the interval he did very little singing which is titally unacceptable. His songs were performed by a cast, typical of a West end musical. If you expect to hear all the old songs sung by Yusuf dont bother goung to the gig. 45. KATHMANDU, may be its a song you have forgotten, but eventhough it was not the first song of yours that I listened, it still reminds me of my childhood growing up in Kathmandu. Growing up listening to your songs has shaped my life in a different way. I never got to see your face not even on a picture untill I moved to the US, 15 years after. Admiring someone having never seen but through words and voice is an amazing feeling, something I shall treasure. I am thrilled to know that you are back to spread moonshadow over all 'us' the fans. Even though I won't be able to afford to see you live I am hoping on your path of spirituality perhaps 'Kathmandu' shall shade some light. I am wondering, will you ever come back to Kathmandu? Kathmandu needs you..Like most of poor countries in identity crisis, politically, financially etc, Kathmandu definitely needs a strong spiritual presence of someone like you. 46. Yusuf, I hope you read this: in 1979 I had to run away from Nicaragua, the land where I was born, due to political reasons. I was 14 then and a great lover of your music, I mean beautiful music. I came to Honduras with my parents with only 2 dollars in my pocket, my guitar and all your songs in my mind and in my heart. Having no money to finish highschool, I started singing your songs at nightclubs and discos. I was very, very young. If it wasnÂ´t for you and your exquisite music I hardly would be here. I hope you some day come to Honduras (you got my phone number) where you are someone very special. I still sing your songs, my 9 years old daughter, Maria Isabel, loves them. 48. Unfortunately I wasn't able to book any good tickets for the London show. Has anyone got 2 tickets to sell for Arena or Stalls? I am a fan since the early 70ies and never had the chance to see him except the show in Shepherds Bush in May 2009. I'd be more than happy to be able to go and see him in the RAH.

56. Bob Kurkela - I recommend the Millennium Gloucester in Kensington. I do not know what you mean by not too pricey, so I will let you judge. I have stayed there several times before and like it alot - great location. I will be staying there again for the Dec 8th show.

Vivo en Puerto Rico y no en Estados Unidos como tuve que escribir al inscribirme en su pagina porque mi pais no aparece en la lista de paises. 65. I'm so excited, and I'm not even going!!! Reading the above 'countdown' just makes me green with envy. For all the lucky ones going, I know it will be an experience not to forget.
