We have no strength of power to change the course of humanity but the conditions for change have been made clear. That’s where we can create the climate for change. By effecting the climate, people naturally adapt and begin to change their ways.

1. Yusuf, I'm wondering if you are contemplating doing something for the people in Haiti. As we speak I am seeing what I can organize at a local level here in New York with the local Haitian community. A benefit concert would be a wonderful idea. Hint hint. :)

As I read your speech, I was struck by the idea of not just using lofty words, but of actually PERFORMING real deeds â€“ â€œsmall kindnessesâ€ such as teaching, feeding, or helping others â€“ or even just smiling and saying hello. 3. Dear Brother Yusuf, Thank you for posting the text of your RIS speech. You wove so much UNIVERSAL wisdom into so few words â€“ the Ten Commandments is a perfect example - and the only thing I might add is the Golden Rule. These lines from your speech were particularly striking: The first condition to change begins with the individualâ€¦The Prophetic system for change comes with inner strength and moral conviction â€“ a lot of Patience and Prayer and compassionâ€¦ energy expended in feeding the hungry, helping the weak and educating the ignorant is never wastedâ€¦ We must at all times not lose sight of the Qurâ€™anic axioms of compassion and justiceâ€¦We are encouragedâ€¦to follow the clear injunctions given to all humanity through the various Prophets and Messengers, sent by the One and only God of allâ€¦ In fact, it seems to me the Revival of the Islamic Spirit is the revival of the Abrahamic Spirit, where One God is worshipped and people of different points of view agree on the fundamental Laws for all Humanity, where religion is protected, [and] rights of life, honour, property and health are given equally to all people. ~Amen~

5. Dear Yusuf, Thank you very much for such words of wisdom. You are spot on when you say that we need to go back to basic and obey the ten commandments firmly rather than argue and creat differences. I'd say the Muslims should also follow Holy Prophet(SAWS) teaching as he said "Spread Islam" where he meant spread peace in anyway you can rather than fight. May Allah Bless you and may the children of Abraham live in Islam (peace)!.

Dear and respected yusuf, you are the most powerful uniting force today.What an appropriate time in this world to remind the world of practical implementation of 10 commandments.if there is no lying and no stealing of neighbors resources almost all the wars will automatically will get snuffed out. .You are the Mahatma Gandhi of this century.Just like he was a God loving and God fearing person and showed that in his selfless service to mankind and he started correcting his own group as well as others.eg removing untouchability from Hindu culture.on one hand and removing the unjust rule. I hope the muslim leaders will start applying the practise of Islam in mosque and start feeding of the poor in the mosques at least once a month if not weekly.The problem with most muslim leaders is too much lip service too little public service at the mosque.Even though we have the zakat( taxes we pay ;;taxes to the caeser and and to God ,which is the money meant for poor.2.5 % of our yearly savings.) coming in from muslims yet no organised public service of feeding. Thank God , God has put an innate impulse in Us All to seek Identity and Truth ... and We must all come to Him .. some sooner some later.. but it is by the Visuals of Ambassadors of God that we See Him and want to be of Service to Him while on this Earth....and by our Conscience .. that unbribable Judge.. Being on This Earth but not of this Earth... that clearly defines our Purpose in Life .. To Live the Generous Life naturally without hesitation is to live in the Treasurehouse and it cultivates our inner island... 10. Compassion ,justice, peace, and love, sounds good! It is of course, very difficult to be patient, when governments have policies that harm the very people they are supposed to serve. I could give a few examples, but perhaps not here. I think most of us try not to harm others. If everyone tried not to harm others by their actions, things would improve rapidly! I'll have to read through your blog a few times, I think, Yusuf, but I am sure you were the nicest person at the conference!(slight bias...this being a fan club!) It would be interesting to see all the other speeches!xxxx

11. Yusuf your words are truly beautiful and touch the commonality of what can be found in the essence of most religions. I love your statements regarding what needs to change, which is the internal consciousness of most of us. Then hopefully that transformation will be felt by others who are not yet at the same spiritual level, leading them to recognize the presence and love of the One, where everything becomes clear and understood. This we can hope with optimism, will lead to a change the world so desperately needs. I love your words of giving, showing humility and aiding and assisting those that are in need. There is nothing more "spiritual" than these acts. May the peace of God be with you. George

12. Peace be upon you and may Allah's mercy and blessings be with you. I attended the RIS convention in Toronto this past week, I was indeed inspired by all the scholars, however, your lecture has stood out most to me and many others as a strong inspiration and heart softening. I am highly intrigued by the achievements you have made in your lifetime, especially the Islamic school you have founded. I hope one day by Allah's will I can visit your school and the charity you have founded to experience and observe more inspirations from you. By this, I am more interested in serving the community faithfully as much as I can. Thank you for coming to Toronto to give a powerful lecture to the Muslim community and its youth. Asalaamu alaykum.
