Pictures From Cropredy

You can now see pictures taken at the Cropredy Festival this weekend in the gallery section.

Yusuf joined festival founders Fairport Convention onstage before playing his own set. The weather was glorious and the 20,000 strong crowd gave Yusuf an ecstatic reception.

1. well, i have been in cropredy. cropredy is the most friendly folk and rock festival, whatsoever. yusuf played with his "old band" - gerry conway, alun davies, richard thompson, simon nicol and dave pegg with great addition of rich saunders and chris leslie. well that is the band we all want to hear. so much good musicianship, so much enjoyment. the cat stevens band was together again and there is no better band for his music. I do wish this will be his band again in the future. walter

2. What is a Cropredy Festival? Is it like a harvest celebreation - getting 'crops ready", so to speak? Thanks for the photos, fun to see!

3. Could someone help me to find a video of Yusuf playing at this festival - I am having a really hard time locating it. The gallery photographs are just beautiful and the one with red is my new screen saver. Any help would be appreciated.

Valerie, from 19th August 2009, while I agree entirely with your sentiments (and of course as always the music was superb) and realise that you may have been using a figure-of-speech in a metaphorical manner, I think that it is crucial to point out and always to remind ourselves that in fact it is one world. Everything is interwoven and mutually-defining. Human civilisation is like a carpet; we take out one thread, the whole thing falls apart. The lute came from Arabia: al 'ud - 'the wood', as did the guitar (and much else); this is just one small example. What artists, at their best, try to do is to evince a clearer vision of that world that we might we catch glimpses of the Absolute.

5. Having now seen all(as far as I know)the Cropredy vids, on Utube, I would like to thank those who did the recordings. They are all amazing! Yusuf(C.St) seems to be getting better all the time. Also Alun Davies and all the other musicians. It was so wonderful,.... you could almost feel the summer air!

7. I am so glad that Cat (Yusef) has resurfaced. We felt abandoned. I understand why he left, but I believe that God has led him to where he is to prepare him for what is happening in the world today. He can, through his work and message, help to bridge two worlds. 9. Those of us who couldn't go to Cropredy, are very happy for those who went, but are patiently waiting, hopefully, for a dvd!
