Jackson Tribute Track Available Now

Following on from the news that Yusuf has recorded a tribute song for Michael Jackson we are pleased to announce that the song, entitled ‘He’s Gone’, is now available to registered members in the 100 I Dream section of the Redroom.

Be sure to register as members will also soon be sent a link to download the track in full for free.

The song was recorded with the help of the band Noxshi and also features Alun Davies and his daughter Becky Moncurr.

5. Thank you for this song, Yusuf. I have read many comments from people who would have appreciated a more upbeat tribute to MJ and I understand what they mean. But somehow your song touches the part of me which is filled with a very basic sadness of not being accepted the way I am, of not being able to be ME. I think we all have a part like that and it was, tragically, very obvious in MJ's life. I think we have to heal that part to be able to surrender to the unconditional love which surrounds us. And I think your song may help us heal that part. It feels that way for me. Thank you!

8. Dear Yusuf, Thank you for sharing your sadness over the death of Michael Jackson. My favourite line of â€œHeâ€™s Goneâ€ is â€œBut no one knows him quite as well as Him.â€ It reminds me of â€œWhere Iâ€™ll end up, well, I think, only God really knows.â€ Your song inspired the MJ poem thatâ€™s in my next post. Itâ€™s not about a particular religion, but simply about crying out to God in our darkest hour. (The formatting will probably need some help from your webmaster.) 9. This song is suitably funereal, as it should be. The arc of Michael Jackson's life exemplifies the damage which the toxic culture of celebrity, allied to hundreds of years of internalised racism, can wreak on someone who was immensely talented. While undeniable, Jackson's talent, in the end, in my view, ultimately contributed to the dominance of the cocaine consciousness and a leaching of soul out of rock/ pop music. His life seems to exude a certain bathos, which, in the final analysis, may come to attain the status of a modern tragedy. Orpheus was drugged, lacerated and finally killed by all of us.

Although, I really love the thought of Yusuf, taking the time to make a recording for Michael, I would have loved it more, if it could have been a celebration of his life, with a more upbeat tune. Salamz , i really love this song it is very really in the feeling and words it's make me cry when i read it iam afraid to hear it .. i wasn't a fan for MJ but after his death i read more about his life and how he was Kind and his Golden heart ... no iam the bigst fan For MJ not just for his music but for his himmanity sorry for my bad english i c an not speak it well And thanx for your wanderfol song salamz from Egypt :)

13. Yusuf. Its a wonderful that you have wrote a song for Michael Jackson. We all know that you are a caring and compassionate man, but I really do not like the way you sang this song. The words are lovely but it sounds like a funeral march.

16. Well, it certainly captures the feeling of June 25, 2009 to a tee. Distraught Jackson fans perhaps should not listen it might send them over the edge â€“ it really is a kind of a dirge! I suppose this is where Yusuf wanted to direct the focus, not on the man, but on how his death has affected the world. I do like the saying at the beginning of the video about when a man dies, he leaves three things, if I can remember: an ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and his good children who pray for him. I'm surprised this is in the Qur'an, but it makes sense. And I will think of a children's charity and donate in Michael's name.

Poignant lyrics...Moving song...All inexplicably, terribly sad...Maybe it isn't all about his music (or because he was a household name while growing up), maybe the fact so few understood him is part of the reason this affects us all so badly. But the tears would dry up sometime soon, as they always do...Eventually...But Michael Jackson's legacy will continue to live on... Thanks for doing this-it was a very sweet gesture. I found it comforting&reassuring;knowing that I'm not alone-that there innumerable people around the globe sharing the grief of his passing. May God grant MJ eternal peace.

20. I have submitted a comment that didn't post. This is the most beautiful and passionate song I've ever heard written for the death of someone - such as MJ. For Yusuf to take the time to deliver this most beautiful prose with the music selected and his voice - is so kind. Thank you Yusuf, for coming back to us, for caring and for sharing. 22. This track is one of the most moving and emotional endeavors Yusuf has done yet. I felt like crying - it was all said - simply and beautifully. We thank you Yusuf - for caring and sharing your kindness. I shall donate to Small Kindness. To others posting - problems I had trouble too - but when I pushed start - it played...a simple goof up. Keep trying this is definitely worth it.
