Yusuf Visits Prophet’s City
Yusuf has been in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, this week at the culmination of the month of Ramadan which ends in a few days time.
Whilst there he was a guest at the prestigious Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz prize giving ceremony, an award that is presented yearly to academics who are adjudged to have furthered the development of Islamic sciences in the modern world.
Madinah, known as the City of the Prophet, is where Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings on him) settled in the year 622 AD following his migration from Makkah. In the coming months it will play host to millions of Muslims from across the globe as they visit it both before and after the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The Prophet’s (peace and blessings on him) mosque in Madinah is the second holiest in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and can accommodate more than half a million worshippers at any one time.
