Yusuf Invited to ‘Last Prophet’ Museum in Turkey
Yusuf, together with his wife and daughter, were recently privileged to visit a precious collection of rare items of the Last Prophet’s clothing in Istanbul.
They were personally shown round the museum and given an opportunity to view, at close hand, the remains of a sandal and shirt belonging to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during a holiday in Turkey this month.
Turkey takes great pride in being the most endowed Muslim country in terms of surviving artefacts and treasures from Islamic culture and history. Straddling the Bosphorus, its skyline studded with domes and minarets, Istanbul is one of the truly great cities.
Its history tracks back from Byzantium to Constantinople to its place at the head of the Ottoman Empire. Today it beats as Turkey’s cultural heart and capital. It was the home of the last Islamic Caliphate, which ended on the 28th of Rajab 1342 AH in the Islamic calendar, corresponding to the 3rd of March 1924.
