Mosques for Children in Need Launched
Yusuf Islam has joined with other prominent community leaders to launch Mosques for Children in Need, an initiative to gather the support of Britain’s Mosques for BBC’s Children in Need campaign taking place over the weekend beginning Friday 16th November.
Speaking at the Willesden Green Mosque and Community Centre on Friday, Yusuf said, “Helping the poor, the needy and the orphans is from the very essence of Islam and the Prophet’s merciful example.”
“Insha Allah (God Willing), this project will help Muslims expand their vision and role in Britain to care for the poor people of this country, particularly the very young. Many Muslims send their charitable donations abroad to very worthy causes, but we must not forget the emphasis Islam also places on the rights of our neighbours and our fellow citizens.”
All donations collected after Friday prayers at mosques around the UK will be sent directly to this year’s Children in Need fund.
Small Kindness, a charity founded by Yusuf Islam in 2000, assists needy families and children in some of the poorest parts of the world. You can find out more by clicking GIVE.
