  January : January 4.
  Yusuf is awarded the Mediterranean Prize for Peace in a ceremony in Naples, Italy. He receives the award “as a result of the work he has done to increase peace in the world”.

  January : January 21.
  Yusuf performs at the Dear Mr Fantasy concert in memory of Jim Capaldi.

  February : February.
  An Other Cup goes gold in the UK, Austria and Italy. Platinum in Germany.

  March : March 1.
  Yusuf performs first live concert in 28 years at the Porchester Hall, London. The ‘Yusuf’s Café’ session is filmed and later broadcast by the BBC.

  March : March 28.
  Single: Midday (Avoid City After Dark) released.

  March : March 25.
  Yusuf is presented with the ECHO Award in Berlin, Germany, for his work as a musician and ambassador between cultures.

  May : May 14.
  Single: Maybe There’s A World released.

  May : May 24.
  Yusuf receives the Ivor Novello award for Outstanding Song Collection. The awards are given by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and are recognised as one of the highest honours for songwriters.

  June : June 25.
  Yusuf’s Café session is released on DVD together with Yusuf’s ‘A Few Good Songs’ BBC documentary.

  June : June 30.
  Yusuf participates in the Challenge Future Conference in Bochum, Germany, held in support of Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s Peace Centre in South Africa and Deborah & Carlos Santana’s Milagro Foundation. Yusuf takes part in a round table discussion with other musicians and the next day performs at a special concert.

  July : July 7.
  Yusuf performs as special guest at Live Earth, Hamburg, closing the show with a five song set. Live Earth initiated a three-year campaign to combat climate change. The world-wide concerts brought together more than 150 musical acts.

  July : July 10.
  Yusuf is awarded an honorary Law Doctorate by the University of Exeter in recognition of his contribution to music and to improving understanding between Islamic and Western cultures.

  September : September 21.
  Yusuf joins an all-star line up for the Peace One Day concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

  November : November.
  Yusuf joins other prominent community leaders to launch Mosques for Children in Need, an initiative to gather the support of UK mosques for BBC’s Children in Need campaign.
