  6. Heaven/Where true love goes is definitely, the most outstanding song on this album, however you interpret it. Its just beautiful and sung amazingly. Other favouite is "Maybe there's a world". The production on "In the End" is great. Also on "I think I see the light", and "Midday".

  9. Beautiful comeback - always the tranquility and wisdom - as well as the calming you have given all your life. Ah oh - "Yusuf's Cafe" is a must DVD for any fan. 1 Hour concert; 1 hour interview; 1 hour to play and watch the videos. Thank you so much.

  10. This reminds me of the lovely and greatly missed George Harrison. He also expressed his spiritual ideas in a very personal and heartfelt manner without being preachy. I don't follow Yusuf's religious ideas any more than I did George's but I'm very glad someone else is talking about what really matters in a beautiful way again. A finely crafted and moving work. Good tunes too! Thank you.

  11. "Midday" is by far one of the most enchanting pieces that I have heard in many years.

Yusuf, thank you for allowing yourself to interpret the songs again and for allowing the glory of God to shine through your music. It is so refreshing to my mind and soul. May God continue to bless you and your work!

  12. Being backed up by old fellow musicians like Alun Davies, Jean Roussel and others, the album turns out to be a master piece. It does not connect to the Tea for The Tillerman era as stated by many newspapers. 'An Other Cup' is far beyond that. It was arranged and composed so fine with rhythm, melodies and a vast array of instruments that it can hardly be compared to the minimalistic (not meant negatively) 'Tea For The Tillerman' or 'Teaser & The Firecat.'

'An Other Cup' can hardly be compared to Cat's '70s albums, though as mentioned by Steve before, songs like 'I Think I See The Light' or 'Greenfields, Golden Sands' were composed in the 70s (60s).

But the sound is not the sound of the past. It goes beyond that with a beautiful and powerful string, voice and chorus arrangement that simply could not have been done back in the '70s. His voice is much finer, and more gracile than ever before; his voice being much more mature - and eternal like a rock in the vast sea.

Listening to the album again and again captures and overwhelms me more and more. It shows a Steve who has found his way. You will not hear the inner quarrel, but mere peace in his songs, and voice.

  13. I love all the new songs! My favorite is Where True Love Goes! Awesome, I am very happy that you've found peace and are using your GOD given talent. You give so much of yourself. I am just learning to play the piano by ear, (I can't read music well). I use to play as a child but have forgotten; of course as a child you play with reckless abandon, and as an adult you don't want to have people hearing your missed chords or notes. I intend to press on.

The first song I'd like to play is Morning Has Broken. I love the simplicity of that hymn. I am a lyric person, although of course I enjoy the music, but some people love the music and never listen to the lyrics. Hmm, go figure. May God forever shine a Moonshadow on you!

  14. I did not know Yusuf's music from the past, but was instantly taken when I heard An Other cup. I was a fairly successful music producer but stopped making music a few years ago because the music industry was not my life anymore. I hadn't touched an instrument for 5 years.

After hearing 'Heaven/Where True Love Goes' I could not stop myself from picking up the guitar again. It not only touched me as a musician, but touched my soul. Amazing to hear songs played by and from an inspired soul and at the same time very well produced! After listening to this I got all Cat's albums and love almost all of the songs. 'Roadsinger' is another amazing album.

Thank you Yusuf for giving up who you where and becoming who you had to be. Your music and your life is an inspiration, no matter what faith or from what culture.

  15. A beautiful album. I particularly love "Maybe there's A World" - I can't think of a better message for our planet at the moment. The re-recording of "I Think I See the Light" is also very special for me. Janette (Paris / Adelaide)

  16. I loved your music in the past. But I didn't even know you were back until last autumn when I heard about Boots & Sand at Paul's board. Then I discovered this album and I was hooked. I love it. So glad we can enjoy your music again.
